DESCRIPTION

"Do you know how to spec a garment?" is a question that usually comes up during interviews, especially for entry-level or assistant designer positions. Whether you're trying to land your first job in the apparel industry, or you've already been a fashion designer for years, learning how to measure clothing is one of most important skills you can have. Designers must always include at least basic garment specs with flat sketches and Senior Designers must review and approve spec sheets as well as train other designers how to spec.

Despite the importance of "specing" in the industry, fashion schools don't focus on this skill nearly enough. So if the employer doesn't have to train you how to measure garments on the job, you're more likely to get the position (and get paid more too). We've completely updated our "How to Spec a Garment" eBook, to prepare you with the fundamentals you need to spec any type of garment. You'll also become familiar with common industry measurement terms, giving you the boost of confidence you need to stay ahead of the competition.

Since there is no universal standard when it comes to measuring garments, each company has their own system for creating specs. Our e-book will leave you with the ability to easily adapt to company standards. Even after you learn how to measure clothing, this eBook serves as a handy reference when on the job.
